As all of you are aware of by now, on 1/12/21 the Meck County Public Health Manager issued a 3-week Directive for residents of the county that will remain in place until February 2nd. The Directive is essentially a stay-at-home order, asking all of us to eliminate non-essential activities outside the home.
Because we want to be part of the solution in our community by supporting efforts to protect public health and safety — but also still want to play lacrosse! —we are adjusting our Winter Clinic.
So, yes, our Winter Clinic is still happening, but is moving from an in-person to virtual format.
Further, we will offer two different virtual sessions on Saturday, 1/16, and Saturday, 1/23. On Saturday, 1/30, there will be just one virtual session. All virtual sessions will be conducted via Zoom. Meeting info will be shared with all of you via email and on the Game Changer Team Manager app.
The virtual sessions are as follows and all registered players are welcome to attend any/all sessions regardless of their experience level:
Saturday, January 16th: Session A — Intermediate / Advanced with Coach Zan, 2:30-3:10p.m.
Saturday, January 16th: Session B — Beginners / Fundamentals with Coach Abby, 3:15-3:55p.m
Saturday, January 23rd: Session A — Intermediate / Advanced with Coach Zan, 2:30-3:10p.m.
Saturday, January 23rd: Session B — Beginners / Fundamentals with Coach Abby, 3:15-3:55p.m
Saturday, January 30th — All Players with Coaches Zan & Abby, 3-4p.m.
So, what’s required for our virtual clinic?
- A device that supports Zoom and a good WiFi or 4G/5G connection (charge your phones and iPads in advance!)
- A mask (train like you play!)
- Lacrosse stick
- A few lacrosse balls (or tennis balls, if you don’t have lacrosse balls)
- A rebounder or wall for passing/catching or...
- A partner to pass with — Mom, Dad, brother, sister … even if they use a baseball glove, that’d work just fine
- Water
- Cleats or athletic shoes
And what will be covered/demonstrated during the clinics?
- Lacrosse fundamentals
- Game concepts
- Stick skills
- Various drills for skill development
- Speed and agility drills, etc.
While this virtual format is novel and may seem foreign to some, onlinel sports clinics have been happening a lot over the past 10+ months with great success.
